Former Vice President Joe Biden mistakenly called the Proud Boys the “Poor Boys” as he tried to link the controversial organization to President Donald Trump in the final presidential debate on Wednesday, according to Breitbart News.

“He said about the Poor Boys [sic] last time we were on stage here he said, ‘I tell them to stand down and stand ready,’” Biden said, referring to a moment in the first presidential debate. “C’mon! This guy has a dog whistle as big as a foghorn.”

During the first debate, Biden demanded that Trump denounce the “Proud Boys,” a right-wing group, as “white supremacists.”

The following the short exchange between Trump and Biden during the first presidential debate concerning white supremacy, as transcribed by Breitbart:

Trump: Go ahead. Who would you like me to condemn?

Biden: White supremacists. The Proud Boys.

Trump: Who?

Wallace: White supremacists and right-wing militia.

Trump: Proud Boys, stand back and stand by. But I’ll tell you what, I’ll tell you what. Somebody’s got to do something about Antifa and the left. Because this is not a right-wing problem.

Biden and his supporters repeatedly attacked Trump for apparently failing to denounce the Proud Boys—Trump ultimately did denounce them and repeated that he also condemned white supremacy several times.

“I don’t know who the Proud Boys are, I mean you have to give me a definition,” Trump said in September. “Because I really don’t know who they are. I can only say they have to stand down, let law enforcement do their work.”

In October, Trump also criticized the Proud boys in an interview with Sean Hannity, saying: “I don’t know much about the Proud Boys, almost nothing, but I condemn that,” he said.

Scott Adams took a jab at Biden, tweeting: “Under Joe Biden’s proposed tax plan the Proud Boys would become the Poor Boys?”

Drew Hernandez tweeted: “The proud boys have now been dubbed the ‘POOR BOYS’ by sleepy Joe Biden.”

The Proud Boys have been denigrated in the mainstream media for so-called far-right extremism, when they have consistently refrained from instigating altercations—altercations that have, in the past, been spearheaded by members of Antifa.

A piece published by Censored.TV laid out the reality of the Proud Boys’ actions in relation to Antifa:

The Proud Boys do not stifle free speech and throw rocks through buildings when someone shows up for a speaking engagement, but far-left extremists do. The Proud Boys do not go around shooting policemen, but far-left extremists do. The Proud Boys do not tear down statues and take to the streets chanting anti-Semitic rhetoric, but far-left extremists do. The Proud Boys do not initiate fights, but far-left extremists do. The Proud Boys do not try to censor, limit, and alter speech, but far-left extremists do. As McInnes says: “We don’t go to their things. They come to our things.”

All of this comes as Biden has consistently failed to call out and condemn the violence that has been done in the name of George Floyd—a man who likely died of a fentanyl overdose at the end of May. Since then, members of Antifa and BLM have wreaked havoc across the country, committing vandalism, burglary, arson, assault, and even murder without the former vice president condemning them a single time.
