Questions were raised about the teacher , Jeanette Valle-Tejeda, after one of her purported victims informed the school’s principal that Valle-Tejeda had been sexually preying upon her.
Valle-Tejeda, 41, is reported to have been a staff member in the Miami-Dade County school system for 20 years, with her most recent job working as a teacher at the Hialeah Senior High School.
The alleged victim who spoke out claims that the teacher began abusing her when she was only 14 years old at the beginning of 2009.
NBC6 South Florida reports that the alleged victim said the molestation started when she was a student at Henry H. Filer Middle School, and continued for four years while she enrolled in Westland Hialeah Senior High.
The arrest report alleges the teacher sexually groomed the underage teen by behaving like an adoptive “mother figure.” This sometimes consisted of helping the minor with money, according to authorities. The accused teacher was said to be so artful in her ongoing efforts of inappropriate sexual behavior that she even orchestrated situations to have her supposed victim spend the night at her house.
According to NBC 6 South Florida, the alleged victim claims that the molestation persisted for all four years she attended Westland Hialeah Senior High. The arrest report says the pair would take showers together, partake in sex acts, and skip out on classes with eachother.
According to a school accounting of Valle-Tejeda’s attendance, which was compared to the details of the story from the alleged victim, the teacher and the underage student appear to have been absent on 11 of the same days. It is said that on the days they skipped school, Valle-Tejeda would take the teen on trips to the beach, restaurants, or to the teacher’s home to have sex.
Jeanette Valle-Tejeda is said to make careful plans that the minor was available for these days by using her position as a teacher to excuse the student from class without permission from her parents.
The latest reports from CBS Miami say that the alleged victim claims that she knows of the teacher abusing at least two other students. Police then confirmed that other alleged victims have come now forward.
One of the new accusers said she was only 11 years old when Valle-Tejeda started their “romantic relationship,” according to 7 News Miami. Another former student claims that the teacher would even have sex acts with the minors on school grounds. She went on to say that Valle-Tejeda also wanted her to have phone sex, but “constantly” emphasized to the students to erase any compromising texts.
There have even been allegations that Valle-Tejeda took one of the supposed victims to clubs and bars when the student was only 17.
Authorities in Florida are preparing to charge Jeanette Valle-Tejeda with a rash of serious crimes for the alleged sexual abuse of her students, which is expected to include sexual battery of a minor. The teacher is currently being held in jail at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center without bond, according to The Daily Beast.
On Friday, the Miami-Dade School District released a statement after accusations about the teacher being arrested for sexually abusing a student went public.
“Miami-Dade County Public Schools is deeply disturbed about the allegations made against this individual,” the statement read. “As soon as the claims surfaced last month, the employee was removed from the school setting and Miami-Dade Schools Police launched an investigation. The District will be terminating her employment and she will be prevented from seeking future work with this school system.”
Hialeah High School has since removed all mention of Valle-Tejeda from its website.
